DocMint is local-first.

In the native DocMint apps, documents, scans, imported photos and generated PDFs are stored on your device. The native apps do not require an account and do not upload your documents to a DocMint server unless you explicitly export or share them using features outside DocMint.

The app uses the camera only when you choose to scan documents. The app can import selected photos only when you choose them.

Mobile purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store or Google through Google Play. Desktop license purchases are handled by Stripe Checkout. DocMint does not store payment card details. License and refund notes are available on the DocMint terms page.

For desktop purchases, DocMint stores the email address needed to send the license code, the Stripe checkout reference, license status, and activation count. Device activation checks use a one-way hashed device identifier so a license cannot simply be resold and activated endlessly.

DocMint does not sell personal data, does not use third-party advertising SDKs, and does not track you across apps or websites.

Mobile app analytics

On iPhone, iPad and Android, optional DocMint product analytics help us understand which features work and where scanning, exporting or purchasing fails. Nothing is sent to our analytics service until you opt in. You can switch these analytics off in Settings; this stops new events and clears unsent events.

Events describe actions such as scanning, editing, exporting, starting a trial or purchasing Pro, along with the app version, platform, language and region settings, access level and technical success or failure. They never contain document images, recognized text, file names, signatures, passwords, payment card details or your name or email address. Region comes from language settings, not GPS.

Events travel over HTTPS. Requests include random event, installation and session identifiers. Our receiver discards installation and session identifiers and retains aggregated event counts and hashed event identifiers to avoid counting retries twice. These identifiers are not advertising IDs. We do not build individual user profiles from these aggregates. Switching analytics off cannot remove your contribution from totals that have already been aggregated.

Android scanning and text recognition

The Android app uses Google ML Kit for scanning and text recognition. Images, recognized text and recognition results are processed on your device and are not sent to Google by these features. The SDK may contact Google to download or update components and sends technical usage and diagnostic information, including device and app information, installation identifiers, feature usage, performance measurements and error codes. This SDK telemetry is separate from the optional DocMint analytics switch. See ML Kit terms and privacy and ML Kit data disclosures.

Your documents and purchases

You can delete documents in the app. Copies you export, share or place in another service remain under that service's controls and may need to be deleted there separately. Native scanning does not require a DocMint account. Apple and Google handle mobile payments and purchase history under their own policies; we use store-provided entitlements to unlock the features you own.

The DocMint website uses Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4 and first-party privacy-safe analytics to understand page views, pricing button clicks, checkout starts, checkout errors, support/contact clicks, social/outbound link clicks and scroll depth. These website events do not include document content, scan content, payment card details or the text of your PDFs.

Website analytics are used to improve the product page, support pages and checkout flow. The DocMint app remains local-first for documents, scans, imported photos and generated PDFs.

DocMint for ChatGPT

If you use DocMint inside ChatGPT, files you explicitly provide to a DocMint tool may be processed temporarily on a DocMint server to create PDFs from images, merge PDFs, extract or split pages, rotate pages, convert PDF pages to PNG images, or prepare a PDF for sharing. Generated download links are temporary and are intended to expire automatically after one hour.

Do not use the ChatGPT version for highly sensitive documents if you need a fully local workflow. Use the native DocMint app for local-first scanning, signing, annotation and PDF editing.

The ChatGPT version does not require a DocMint account. It does not use your document contents for advertising. It should not be described as offline or on-device processing, because the requested PDF action is completed through the DocMint server.
